This short video explains some of the main rights protected by the Kawthoolei Land and Forest Policy of the Karen National Union. This includes the rights to occupy and use land and forests, the rights to manage forests, and the rights to manage collectively customary land “Kaw.” Having these rights recognized can help communities in Kawthoolei to protect lands from harmful investment projects, so we can retain our land and territory and develop it in a way that harmonious with nature, our culture, and traditions.
