Access to WASH – clean water, sanitation, and hygiene – are fundamental human rights. A clean and accessible water source is the basis of human health and wellbeing, so when water is contaminated, this makes the whole category of WASH impossible to achieve and disease can spread.
Sustainable water management is an important issue that covers the protection of water from pollution, preventing overuse of water resources, and equitable distribution. Water is not only essential for health, it is also an important element of our Karen cultural traditions, and way of life. Protecting our water sources will play a major part in improving human health, wellbeing, and sustainable livelihoods.
This WASH educational toolkit includes a booklet and poster which aims to raise awareness about sustainable management of water resources, proper establishment of toilets, and having regular personal hygiene routine so that we can live a life full of dignity.
