This paper documents the community-based water governance system practiced by the community to sustainable manage and protect the Daw Lar Lake which is located in the Western bank of the Salween River in Karen State and face multiple threats from many forms of government licensed natural resource exploitation, such as major rubber plantations, rock quarries, cement factories and large-scale hydropower dams.
