An open letter was sent today with endorsements from over 200 civil society groups, the 29th of September 2015 to the Snowy Mountain Engineering Corporation over the Australian Company’s failure to address key concerns of communities and civil society groups, or to meet international standards for transparency and human rights in the ESIA process that they have carried out to date for the giant Mongton Dam project on the Salween River in Burma (Myanmar). The Save the Salween Network explained in their letter their reasons for refusing to engage with the company through its so-called consultation process, instead choosing to state their clear opposition by urging the company to immediately withdraw from the Mongton project.
