Karen language:
This traditional folk tale aims to promote Indigenous Karen’s knowledge and traditional practices that contribute to the conservation and preservation of biodiversity species. Based on consultations with and contributions from Indigenous elders in the Salween Peace Park, Mutraw district, Kawthoolei, the book presents the traditional stories of several significant wildlife species, including the Sumatran rhinoceros, gaur, tiger, great hornbill, and others that have been protected for generations. We hope the readers will enjoy this book and uphold our great ancestors’ teaching, guidance, and way of life, which promotes peaceful coexistence with wildlife so that our biodiversity species can thrive in our time and future generations.
